ZOA to Glamour Magazine: Don't Honor Anti-Israel Bigot Linda Sarsour
In a letter today to Cynthia Leive, the Editor-in-Chief of Glamour magazine, the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) urged Glamour to remove Linda Sarsour's name and image from among the Women's March organizers who are being honored as Glamour's Women of the Year for 2017. The ZOA provided example after example of how Sarsour is an anti-Semitic, anti-Israel bigot who divides rather than unites us, including these:
- Sarsour promotes the false notion that if you are a Zionist, then you cannot be a feminist.
- Sarsour condemns and delegitimizes brave, true feminists who speak out against radical Islam. Ayaan Hirsi Ali, once a devout Muslim, has courageously criticized the role that Islam plays in tolerating the abuse of girls and women, including genital mutilation and so-called honor killings. Instead of showing her respect, Sarsour disgustingly tweeted that Ayaan Hirsi Ali's "vagina should be taken away" and that she does not "deserve" to be a woman.
- Sarsour opposes the right of the Jewish State of Israel to exist, expressing her unbridled hatred on Twitter with statements such as "Nothing is creepier than Zionism" and "[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu is a waste of a human being."
- Sarsour openly supports the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement which targets one country alone for punishment and elimination – the Jewish State of Israel – while ignoring the actions of genuine human rights abusing countries.
- Sarsour is a terrorist sympathizer. In April, she shared a podium with Rasmea Odeh, a convicted terrorist responsible for murdering two college students in a 1969 supermarket bombing in Israel. Sarsour said she was "honored and privileged to be here in this space, and honored to be on this stage with Rasmea." Odeh was recently deported from the U.S. for lying about her terrorist crimes on her immigration forms.
Urging Glamour to remove Sarsour's name and image from among the Women's March organizers who have been named Women of the Year for 2017, Susan B. Tuchman, Esq., the director of the ZOA's Center for Law and Justice, wrote: "Your readers and followers know that the Women of the Year who are chosen by Glamour are game changers, rule breakers, and trailblazers. They are meant to inspire us. They should not be anti-Semitic bigots who divide rather than unite us."
